Common faults of mortar pumps

Fault 1: Pump does not draw water
Causes: Insufficient priming water, air trapped in the pump, air leak in the suction pipe, large gap between the front liner and impeller
Solutions: Continue priming water, check for air leaks in the pipeline, adjust the gap between the impeller and the front liner

Fault 2: Slow water flow from the pump
Causes: Large gap between the front liner and impeller, air not sealed in the outlet pipe, insufficient venting
Solutions: Adjust the gap, adjust the outlet pipe, install a vacuum system

Fault 3: Low outlet pressure and flow rate
Causes: Air in the pump, large gap between the impeller and the front liner, loose separator closure, impeller or liner wear
Solutions: Vent the air from the pump, adjust the gap, adjust the separator...

Fault 4: Pump Vibration
Causes: Pump shaft misalignment with diesel engine (or motor), impeller imbalance, bearing damage
Solutions: Adjust concentricity, perform impeller balancing test, replace bearing

Fault 5: Rapid Impeller Journal Wear
Causes: Low high-pressure pump head, packing misalignment, pump shaft misalignment with rear cover
Solutions: Replace with a high-pressure pump with a higher head than the mud pump, replace packing, adjust concentricity

Fault 6: Rapid Pump Wear
Causes: Poor construction conditions (large particles), long delivery distance, long inlet pipe
Solutions: Replace the pump, add booster unit, shorten inlet pipe length to reduce cavitation.
